Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall remains determined to join Manchester United despite being told he will not be sold this summer.

According to The Sun, Hall wants to move to Old Trafford, with Michael Carrick keen to bring the left-back in to provide competition and cover for Luke Shaw.

United have already approached Newcastle over the 21-year-old, who has developed into one of the Premier League’s best left-backs. Newcastle, however, are reluctant to lose another key player after several major departures this summer.

Hall is under contract until 2029 but is reportedly pushing for a move, with Newcastle’s difficult season and recent exits leaving some players concerned about the club’s direction.

Tottenham are in talks with Inter Milan over a deal to sell Djed Spence for around €30million (£25.6m).

According to The Athletic, Spence is keen on a move to the Serie A champions, who are looking for a new right-back following Denzel Dumfries’ transfer to Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old can play on either flank but faces increased competition at Tottenham following the arrivals of Andy Robertson and Souza, while Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie remain first-choice options.

Spence has two years left on his contract and enjoyed an important role in Tottenham’s Europa League-winning campaign, but Inter’s interest could now offer him the chance to secure regular football in Italy.

Arsenal have expressed an interest in Barcelona defender Jules Kounde as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his defence.

According to AS, Barcelona are open to selling the France international, with Arsenal monitoring the 27-year-old’s situation.

Kounde signed a new five-year contract with Barcelona in August 2025 and is understood to be keen to remain at the club.

However, Arteta is a big admirer of Kounde, which could encourage Arsenal to explore a potential move for the versatile defender.

Manchester United are willing to pay the £14m release clause of Racing Santander left-back Jorge Salinas.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona are also interested in the 19-year-old but are currently unwilling to meet his release clause, potentially opening the door for United.

Salinas came through Racing Santander’s academy and made his senior debut in 2024. The Spain Under-19 international impressed last season, providing seven assists from left-back.

Atlético Madrid are also understood to be monitoring Salinas, but United could now be in the strongest position to secure the highly-rated teenager.

Chelsea are set to announce the signing of Pep Chavarria today.

The Blues have been locked in talks with LaLiga oufit Rayo Vallecano since the end of June regarding their Spanish left-back, with the two clubs struggling to agree a financial package.

The 28-year-old has a release clause in his contract at Vallecano worth £42.5m, though Chelsea were never willing to go anywhere close to that figure and are believed to have struck a deal worth an initial £16.2m plus a further £1.7m in add-ons.

BBC Sport report that a medical has now been completed and an official announcement could come today.

Liverpool are prepared to walk away from talks over the transfer of Bradley Barcola as they struggle to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, leaving Arsenal on alert.

The Reds are yet to replace Mohamed Salah, who joined Trabzonspor as a free agent last week, and have earmarked the France winger as a top target.

Talks have been ongoing between the clubs for some time, but an agreement is not thought to be close. According to The Athletic, PSG have set their asking price at around £145million.

Liverpool are not willing to match that fee, and, conversely, PSG will not waver, despite Barcola himself being keen on the move as he looks to boost his minutes.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has confirmed Ezri Konsa will miss the UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain, amid links to Arsenal.

Villa take on PSG in a meeting between last season’s Europa League and Champions League winners at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg on Wednesday night.

Though, Villa’s hopes of lifting a second European trophy in the space of three months have been hit as Konsa is unavailable for selection along with Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins.

While all three players have been linked with moves away from Villa Park this summer, Emery insists the trio’s absences are not transfer related, rather being given extra time off following the World Cup.

Tottenham have opened discussions with Monaco over for Folarin Balogun.

French outlet, L’Equipe, claim the former Arsenal striker is valued at around €60million (£51.2m) having impressed for USA at the World Cup earlier in the summer.

Spurs, though, may have to move fast as the report states several Spanish sides and Newcastle are interested in Balogun.

Arsenal would have been interested in Anthony Gordon had he not joined Barcelona. Morgan Rogers was the top target but the club were reluctant to meet Aston Villa's valuation and were outbid by Chelsea.

The focus then shifted to Vinicius Jr and Arsenal were willing to put together a huge financial package to land him. However, he opted to stay at Real Madrid as always appeared most likely.

With Yan Diomande joining Real Madrid and Junior Kroupi out for months with a foot injury, the pool of options has shrunk significantly.

Morgan Rogers could be in line to make his Chelsea debut this weekend, along with three other summer signings.

Chelsea have played five pre-season friendlies so far, beating Western Sydney Wanderers and AC Milan, and face Real Sociedad on Saturday for Xabi Alonso’s first home game in charge.

Rogers, a £117million arrival from Aston Villa last month, is yet to feature for his new club because of a mandatory three-week post World Cup holiday as he helped England beat France in the bronze final on July 18.

The attacking midfielder has since reported to Cobham to begin what is expected to be a short pre-season and a decision will be made as to whether he is named in the squad to face Sociedad.
