Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham are all preparing for the January transfer window, with a little over two months until it opens. Arsenal are expected to launch a bid for Bournemouth youngster Eli Junior Kroupi, but their hopes of reigniting a pursuit of Julian Alvarez appears dead. Nicolo Tresoldi is another name linked with Viktor Gyokeres continuing to struggle.

Manchester United have decided to stick with beleaguered manager Michael Carrick for the time being, in a surprise U-turn after strong sack talks, with the main reason said to be financial. Chelsea have full focus on a deal for Alex Scott, with Bournemouth reportedly demanding more than £100million for the player, but Nico Paz looks to be staying put.

Tottenham will look to sign a new striker in January, with Junior Kroupi their dream target, as they field interest in outcast Richarlison. Liverpool are also pursuing Scott, and have ruled out an exit for £116m man Florian Wirtz. Follow the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip live below!

Chelsea keen on Nico Paz

Chelsea have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Nico Paz, with Como unwilling to sell the attacking midfielder during the January transfer window.

According to TEAMtalk, Como consider Paz central to Cesc Fabregas’ plans and have no intention of allowing him to leave midway through the season. Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso is reportedly a major admirer, while Arsenal and Manchester United have also been linked with the Argentina international.

Real Madrid could further complicate matters, having retained an €80 million buy-back option for summer 2027.

How close Tottenham came to signing Hazard - and why move fell through

Harry Redknapp met with Eden Hazard twice in an attempt to convince him to move to Tottenham rather than arch-rivals Chelsea in 2012, but the move fell through as the club refused to finance the deal.

The Belgian winger was among the highest-rated talents in Europe at the time as he tore up Ligue 1 with Lille, and subsequently was among the hottest properties on the transfer market at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.

Chelsea, then European champions, were the lucky winners in the race for his signature, spending just £32m, and he became a legend in west London. He left the club in 2019 to join Real Madrid in a nine-figure deal, having scored 110 goals and won a wealth of silverware.

But his career path might have looked very different. Tottenham were also in the running for the forward’s signature, and Redknapp has now revealed exactly how close the north London outfit came to signing Hazard.

Speaking on The Overlap Daily podcast, then-Spurs boss Redknapp revealed Chelsea great Joe Cole had spotted Hazard while on loan at Lille during the 2011/12 campaign and told him to look into a move.

How Man Utd dressing room reacted to Carrick sack decision

A Manchester United player has lifted the lid on the dressing room reaction to Michael Carrick staying on as manager.

Carrick appeared on the brink of being dismissed following Sunday’s 3-0 loss at home to Bournemouth, which had come just days after a 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League.

However, Man Utd chiefs decided to give Carrick more time in his role, with the former midfielder set to take charge of the side for this weekend’s trip to Chelsea.

At full-time on Sunday after the Bournemouth game, Man Utd fans targeted their boos towards their players, rather than beleaguered manager Carrick.

It appears that a similar sentiment is shared by at least one player in the Man Utd dressing room.

BBC Sport quote an unnamed player, who said: “The feeling is that we all want to put it right. Players, staff, everyone.”

Desire Doue to snub Arsenal and Chelsea

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have been dealt a setback in their pursuit of Desire Doue, with Paris Saint-Germain making progress in contract negotiations with the winger.

Bayern Munich are also monitoring the 21-year-old France international, who has attracted interest from several of Europe’s leading clubs.

According to TEAMtalk, PSG are advancing in talks over a new deal for Doue as they look to secure his long-term future beyond 2029.

Club Brugge send message to Arsenal over Nicolo Tresoldi

Arsenal have been dealt a setback in their pursuit of Nicolo Tresoldi, with Club Brugge reportedly ruling out a January departure for the in-demand striker.

The Germany Under-21 international has attracted interest from several major European clubs after his impressive performances in Belgium.

According to reports cited by Metro, Club Brugge have no intention of selling Tresoldi during the winter transfer window, regardless of the offers they receive.

Arsenal are understood to be monitoring the forward as Mikel Arteta considers strengthening his attacking options, amid uncertainty surrounding Viktor Gyokeres.

However, Club Brugge would prefer to retain Tresoldi until the end of the season, with a possible high-profile transfer more likely to be considered next summer.

Bournemouth chief issues Alex Scott contract talks update

Bournemouth owner Bill Foley insists the club “haven’t given up” trying to convince Chelsea target Alex Scott to sign a new contract with the Cherries, .

Bournemouth rejected a £64million bid for Scott from Chelsea in the summer and subsequent approaches from other major clubs in England but have since softened their not-for-sale stance.

But Foley and the Cherries have not lost hope that Scott might still commit his future to the south coast club.

He told TalkSport: “At this point, we're convinced we're the right place for Alex to be and to stay, and we'll keep on addressing the contract issues with Alex as we move through this year. We'd love to have Alex stay here.”

Arsenal learn new Julian Alvarez decision

Arsenal have reportedly suffered a setback in their pursuit of Julian Alvarez, with Atletico Madrid standing firm ahead of the January transfer window.

According to reports in Spain, Atletico has made its position clear to Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and the striker himself.

Mikel Arteta’s side explored a move for Argentine forward during the summer and remained in contact with his representatives after the window closed. However, Alvarez had previously favoured a switch to Barcelona, while Atletico refused to negotiate with their La Liga rivals.

The latest development leaves Arsenal facing a wait if they hope to revisit their interest. Alvarez, who is under contract at Atletico until 2030, has recently apologised to the club’s supporters following the transfer controversy.

Chelsea fans react as Man Utd don't sack Carrick

News that Manchester United will keep boss Michael Carrick in situ for Saturday’s trip to Stamford Bridge has been met by jubilation from Chelsea supporters online.

It was reported that on Monday Man United chiefs met to discuss Carrick’s future, before deciding the former player will continue in his role.

Carrick looked beleaguered on the touchline during Sunday’s defeat to Bournemouth, Manchester United struggling to lay a glove on the visitors as they romped to a 3-0 victory.

Heading into the Bournemouth game, there was already serious speculation that Carrick would depart Old Trafford following a similarly dismal display against Como in the Champions League.

But it appears Carrick is set to remain in his post until at least the Chelsea game, leading to gleeful social media posts from Blues fans.

Neville 'happy' with Carrick decision

Gary Neville says he is happy with Manchester United’s surprise Michael Carrick sack decision, despite his prediction backfiring.

With United now winless in their last eight games across all competitions, Carrick has come under intense scrutiny as the likes of Eddie Howe, Julian Nagelsmann and Antonio Conte have been touted as potential replacements.

Man United’s 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at the weekend, on the back of an embarrassing defeat to Como in the Champions League four days prior felt like the end of the road for Carrick as head coach.

However, he will remain in charge of Man Utd for Saturday's Premier League meeting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Some good news for Manchester United, at last!

Ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash against Chelsea, it has been revealed that Joao Pedro will be sidelined through injury.

The Brazilian missed the corresponding fixture last season which United won 1-0, so could history repeat itself on Saturday?
