The summer window is entering its final days as the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham all work hard to wrap up deals before Tuesday's deadline. Three of the biggest moves of the summer are still in the offing, with the Gunners after Julian Alvarez, Liverpool closing in on Bradley Barcola and Man City targeting Enzo Fernandez.

Alvarez has been absent from training at Atletico Madrid as Arsenal push to snap up the Argentine, while Gabriel Martinelli is set to join Al Hilal. A trio of youngsters in James Scanlon, Habeeb Ogunneye and Igor Tyjon are joining. Liverpool have agreed a fee with Paris Saint-Germain for Barcola, and also want Ismaila Sarr, which could see Cody Gakpo join Spurs.

Man Utd still want to sign a left-back with Lewis Hall their no1 target, while Joshua Zirkzee could leave. Chelsea have agreed a fee for Emi Martinez, and have agreed a deal worth £40m for Honest Ahanor. Fernandez was left out of the matchday squad last night, and looks to be heading out along with Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap. Spurs have unveiled Omar Marmoush and could move for Neco Williams. Tottenham to submit first Cody Gakpo bid

Tottenham are expected to step up their pursuit of Cody Gakpo after Liverpool agreed a deal in principle to sign Bradley Barcola from PSG.

Spurs have been interested in the Netherlands international throughout the summer, with Roberto De Zerbi keen to add another versatile forward to his squad despite the additions of Savio and Omar Marmoush.

Liverpool’s move for Barcola could open the door for Gakpo to leave, particularly with the Reds also targeting further attacking reinforcements.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are now expected to submit an official bid, although it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will sanction the 27-year-old’s departure before the transfer deadline.

Arsenal offer to help Julian Alvarez's family?

An interesting tidbit in Spanish media overnight regarding Arsenal’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez.

According to DSports, one of the sticking points for Alvarez moving back to England is that UK visa restrictions limit his parents and extended family from staying with him long-term.

That is not a problem for the Argentine and his family in Spain.

The same publication claims that Arsenal are trying to find a solution as they signal to Atletico a willingness to pay £115million (€135m) for the player in ‘secret’ talks last week in London, which have been reported by TEAMtalk.

Enzo Fernandez latest as Chelsea demand huge fee

Chelsea will demand more than £120m from Manchester City for Enzo Fernandez, reports claim.

City are expected to finally table a formal offer soon for the Argentine midfielder, who was omitted from Xabi Alonso’s squad completely for Thursday’s win over Luton in the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea previously set a 5pm BST deadline of Friday, August 13 for bids worth £120m for Fernandez, which City did not meet.

Now The Independent claim that the Blues would want a higher price than that if they were to sanction the sale of such a key player so late in the window.

Chelsea would also want a replacement for Fernandez and are said to be prepared to return with another approach for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, who the Cherries continue to insist is not for sale.

Honest Ahanor set for Chelsea medical

Honest Ahanor is set to undergo a medical at Chelsea.

The Blues agreed a deal for Atalanta’s teenage defender on Thursday worth £40m.

Ahanor has now been given permission to travel to west London in order to have a medical and sign a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ahanor is expected to be immediately dispatched to another club for this season in order to continue building experience, having already earned two senior international caps for Italy.

Arsenal handed Julian Alvarez boost after transfer twist

Arsenal look to have been handed a fresh boost over Julian Alvarez after yet another new twist in the summer’s most high-profile and protracted transfer saga.

Atletico Madrid striker Alvarez is Arsenal’s No1 target heading into the final days of the window, with the club ready to launch a big-money move for his services.

However, they will only do so if they are given sufficient encouragement by the player’s camp, which does not appear to have been forthcoming yet with the market due to close at 11pm BST on Tuesday night (September 1).

Alvarez has been public with his desire to complete a dream move to Barcelona, who were said to have revived their push for the Argentina international in the final week of the window after failing with an offer worth €100m (£85.7m) earlier this summer.

Xabi Alonso explains shock Enzo Fernandez U-turn

Xabi Alonso has confirmed that the late decision to omit Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea’s squad to face Luton was made jointly by himself and the club, .

Blues boss Alonso had initially said at Wednesday’s pre-match press conference that he expected Fernandez to be involved in Thursday’s Carabao Cup second-round clash at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Argentine midfielder - who appeared as a second-half substitute during Monday night’s Premier League opener against Fulham - was not even named on the bench in the end as Chelsea beat Jack Wilshere’s League One side 2-0 thanks to a debut goal from Danny Welbeck and late own goal forced by Estevao.

Manchester City are believed to be preparing an offer to sign Fernandez before the summer transfer window closes for business, intending to reunite him with former Blues boss Enzo Maresca at the Etihad Stadium.

Napoli eye two Premier League strikers

Napoli are interested in signing Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade, and also hold an interest in Chelsea’s Marc Guiu.

The Azzurri have opened talks with Newcastle with regard to a deal for the Germany international, per Fabrizio Romano, though they acknowledge a move for Guiu would be easier to pull off.

Marin issues Alvarez update

Atletico Madrid CEO Gil Martin has issued an update on Julian Alvarez.

“Julián is going through a very difficult situation on both a professional and personal level.

“He’s really bad off because there have been people who deceived and confused him. If he wants to leave, a solution will be found, but it will never be to Barcelona.

“The lies, the lack of transparency, and the lack of professionalism from Barça disgust us.”
