Conor Coady and Paul Williams will join Lee Carsley’s England U21 coaching staff this autumn following Ashley Cole’s departure.

Coady, the former Wolves and England defender, will return to the development pathway after previously working with the MU19s earlier this year. The 33-year-old won 10 senior caps and represented England at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.

Williams, who has extensive Premier League experience as a player, most recently worked with England’s U15s and will combine his new role with his position as a senior coach developer at the FA.

The Young Lions, who are defending European champions, have three remaining Euro 2027 qualifying matches as they look to secure their place at next summer’s finals.

Chelsea women have confirmed Erin Cuthbert will take on the captain's armband for the 2026/27 campaign.

She replaces Millie Bright as club captain after the England defender announced surprise plans to retire in April.

The Scot is into her tenth year with Chelsea and has made a staggering 301 appearances.

She said: "It’s a great honour. I never imagined myself doing this 10 years ago or being in the position that I am. It’s beyond the wildest dreams of a little girl from Irvine.

"I know the weight the armband comes with at a club like Chelsea. And I'm ready to step up and show that I can live up to that."
