Arsenal are said to have made an offer for Julian Alvarez after Atletico Madrid named their price but there's still work to be done to get a deal over the line. The Gunners are set to confirm Gabriel Martinelli's exit as they remain interested in the likes of Kenan Yildiz and Matias Fernandez-Pardo. Meanwhile, Igor Tyjon and Habeeb Ogunneye will be announced as Arsenal players after medicals, to be followed by James Scanlon.

How Manchester United can line up with Carlos Baleba
Manchester United have completed the signing of Carlos Baleba.
Standard Sport understands the deal to bring the 22-year-old to Old Trafford from Brighton is £70million as Baleba becomes the fourth signing of the summer for Michael Carrick’s side, following the arrivals of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow.
He is also be the third midfielder through the doors at United after Santos and Tielemans, with Carrick overhauling his options in the middle of the park.
Julian Alvarez to Arsenal transfer twist
Julian Alvarez was absent from Atletico Madrid training on Wednesday morning as speculation over his future and interest from Arsenal and Barcelona continues.
The 26-year-old has made no secret of his desire to leave Atletico this summer, declaring as much at the World Cup.
There is less than a week to go until the end of the transfer window and still Alvarez's future is a long way from being resolved.
Atletico trained on Wednesday morning ahead of their upcoming match against Sevilla but there was no sign of Alvarez.
According to reports in Spain, Alvarez missed the session due to a stomach issue that had developed overnight.
It remains to be seen whether the forward returns to training later this week or if he plays any part when Atletico face Sevilla.
Liverpool quoted £80m for Minteh
Brighton are holding out for £80million for Yankuba Minteh after rejecting two bids from Liverpool.
However, Sky Sports claim Liverpool’s talks with Brighton are not progressing as things stand.
Tottenham close in on Marmoush transfer
Omar Marmoush is set to undergo a medical after Tottenham and Manchester City reached an agreement over a loan deal with an obligation to buy for the Egyptian forward.
understands the obligation is worth an initial £50million with £5m in guaranteed add-ons and a further £5m in additional add-ons.
Marmoush is set to sign a four-year contract, with the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.
Gonzalez undergoes Newcastle medical
As Omar Marmoush prepares to undergo a medical in London with Tottenham, Nico Gonzalez is undergoing a medical ahead of his move to Newcastle.
This is after Newcastle and Manchester City agreed a £50m deal for the midfielder on Tuesday.
As per Sky Sports, Gonzalez said his goodbyes to his City teammates on Wednesday morning.
DONE DEAL! Brighton sign Jaouen Hadjam
Brighton have signed Algeria left-back Jaouen Hadjam from Swiss champions Young Boys for an undisclosed fee.
Paris-born Hadjam, 23, has won 21 international caps, including playing three times at this summer’s World Cup.
Seagulls sporting director Mike Cave told the club website: “We believe Jaouen will be a great addition to the group, adding to our already-strong options in defence.
“He is a modern left-back known for his pace, attacking output and technical abilities which fits our style of play well. He has proven himself to be a versatile player in Switzerland and we are looking forward to working with him.”
Hadjam, a former France youth international who was eligible to play for Algeria through his parents, began his career with Paris FC and also represented Nantes before joining Young Boys in 2024.
Marmoush medical
Omar Marmoush is edging closer to joining Tottenham from Manchester City.
As per the Athletic, the forward has been granted permission to undergo a medical with Spurs ahead of sealing a season-long loan move.
The report states Tottenham have an obligation to buy for £60million.
Man Utd verdict on Baleba deal
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has delivered his reaction to the Carlos Baleba signing.
He said: “I’m sure our fans will love Baleba!
“He’s a very energetic player. Strong physically, he can push us up the pitch driving the ball. Young and exciting, the club have been following him for two years.”
DONE DEAL! Bournemouth sign Juventus goalkeeper
Bournemouth have announced the signing of goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio on a season-long loan from Juventus.
The 29-year-old started his career at Inter Milan before making a permanent move to Monza in 2002, helping the club achieve promotion to Serie A for the first time in their history.
Di Gregorio joined Juve in the summer of 2024 and has played in the Champions League.
“I am very happy to be here. This is a very important moment for me and that’s why I think the decision to come here to Bournemouth was the right one,” he said on the Cherries website.
“I felt the club’s desire to have me here and I felt the ambition that this club has to continue to grow and do great things. The Premier League is the most beautiful league in the world. It is an honour for me to be here and to have the chance to play and play at such a high level.”
How will Arsenal replace Martinelli
It is not certain that Gabriel Martinelli will be directly replaced in the final week of the transfer window, writes Matt Verri.
Arsenal had long-term interest in Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz, but he has picked up a foot injury and faces a spell on the sidelines.
Julian Alvarez remains the top target, though that is a complicated deal to do and Arsenal are still waiting for encouragement from his representatives.
The Gunners are willing to be ambitious financially if Alvarez does become available to them, as they were with Vinicius Jr earlier this summer.
However, they will not spend big for the sake of it on players that are priced well beyond the club's own valuations.
