Liverpool plot shock move for Micky van de Ven
Liverpool are plotting a sensational move for Tottenham captain Micky van de Ven, according to reports.
The Reds are known to be admirers of the Dutch defender, whom Spurs appointed as their new skipper in the summer to replace departed centre-back partner Cristian Romero.
Per Football Insider, Liverpool plan to launch a swoop for Van de Ven either in January or next summer, with Manchester United now also said to have made him their top defensive target.
However, Tottenham apparently will not entertain any offers for the former Wolfsburg star, who only signed a bumper new contract in August that is valid until 2031.
Chelsea reignite Jules Kounde interest
Chelsea look to have reignited their interest in Barcelona defender Jules Kounde.
The versatile France international has long been on the transfer radar at Stamford Bridge amid a constant need for reinforcements at the back.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are now back in pursuit of Kounde, who also has interest from Bayern Munich after seeing his role limited at Barca so far this season under Hansi Flick.
The Blues originally tried to sign the 27-year-old before he switched to the Camp Nou from LaLiga rivals Sevilla in 2022.
Man Utd eyeing Croatia striker Igor Matanovic
Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Croatia striker Igor Matanovic, reports claim.
The Red Devils could look to add a new forward to their ranks in the January transfer window as Benjamin Sesko continues to struggle with a lingering shin injury.
According to CaughtOffside, United are regularly watching Freiburg frontman Matanovic, who came on at half-time of Croatia’s 7-0 dismantling by England in the Nations League last night.
However, Arsenal and Chelsea are also said to be discussing a player who could now be worth around £50m.
Arsenal leading race for Antonio Nusa
While Erling Haaland might not end up at Arsenal, one of his Norway team-mates apparently well could.
The Gunners are believed to be among the host of Premier League clubs eyeing a move for RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa.
According to The Sun, Arsenal are now leading the race for Nusa after an injury to Christos Tzolis, but face competition from a number of rivals including Tottenham.
Newcastle and Aston Villa are also believed to be interested in Nusa, along with Roma, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Erling Haaland makes decision 'amid Arsenal interest'
Arsenal fans holding out any slight hope for a shock move for Erling Haaland after the Manchester City verdict look set to be left disappointed.
There has been very tentative speculation that the reigning Premier League champions would be interested in signing Haaland if the severity of City’s punishment - should their appeal fail - results in him looking to leave the club.
But according to TEAMtalk, the Norwegian goal machine would prefer a switch to LaLiga over Arsenal, having been frequently linked with Real Madrid during recent years.
Haaland’s camp are said to be looking at 2027 as a potential exit date from the Etihad, despite signing a bumper new contract last year that runs until the summer of 2034.

Barca eye Man City star
Fichjaes claims that Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester City attacker Rayan Cherki and are considering a move for 2027.
The Catalan club could make an offer if City's situation makes Cherki available for less than his €90million valuation.
Real Madrid, PSG, Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the 23-year-old.
Teamtalk claims that Manchester United are expected to renew their interest in RB Leipzig captain David Raum ahead of January. The 28-year-old has given the green light to a potential Old Trafford move, with Juventus also competing for his signature.
A fee of around £30million could open talks as Raum enters the final year of his Leipzig contract.
Arsenal show interest in Yoro
Arsenal have also emerged as a serious option to sign Leny Yoro, who could consider leaving Manchester United.
According to CaughtOffside, Yoro has concerns over his role at Old Trafford, having gailed to start a Premier League game so far this season.
The report states that while Paris Saint-Germain are showing strong interest in the French defender, Arsenal are also watching developments.
Chelsea may have signed perfect Xabi Alonso fit in £40m game-changer
Eyebrows were raised this summer when Chelsea agreed to pay £40million for an 18-year-old centre-back with just 41 senior appearances to his name.
The Blues spending lavishly on young talent is nothing new. But during a window when they pivoted towards adding more experience to their squad, the move for Honest Ahanor from Atalanta came as a surprise.
Ahanor, who is currently on loan at Crystal Palace, will officially join Chelsea ahead of the 2027/28 season and will expect to challenge for minutes straightaway.
The two-cap Italy international has enjoyed a rapid rise since making his senior debut as a 16-year-old for Genoa in September 2024. For those who have followed his career closely, this feels like a natural step
Arsenal transfer mistake exposed
If no news is good news during an international break, Arsenal have had far too much of it over the past fortnight.
Those have not all been reasons for concern. Declan Rice, for example, pulled out of the England squad due to load management rather than any injury issues.
Ezri Konsa missed England training earlier this week with a minor problem but then made the squad against the Czech Republic, and is in contention to start against Croatia on Saturday.
There was more stress for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal when Martin Odegaard limped out of a stadium in Oslo with a worrying ankle problem. However, that pain subsided and he has made a swift recovery, playing 90 minutes for Norway against Wales on Thursday.
