Two men have been charged following an incident in which two police officers were hurt after a car repeatedly rammed a PSNI patrol car in west Belfast.

It happened just before midnight on Tuesday, after the officers on patrol saw a silver Nissan Juke driving at high speed on the Glen Road.

Both officers have attended hospital for treatment on Wednesday morning, police said.

Two men were arrested after the incident and have subsequently been charged.

One of the men, 39, has been charged with offences including dangerous driving, driving without a driving licence, using a motor vehicle without valid insurance, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and failing to provide a specimen when driving unfit.

The other man, 44, has been charged with possession of a Class A controlled drug.

Both men are expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 23 September.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
