Victim of fatal Clapham shooting named

A man who was shot dead in south-west London has been named by police as Auguste-Marie Bile-aka Amoa.

Officers and paramedics were called to Willington Road, Clapham, just before 22:00 BST on Monday following reports of gunshots near The Landor pub.

The 25-year-old, who worked as a bus driver, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Metropolitan Police said.

A 22-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of murder after attending hospital with a gunshot wound on Tuesday. He remains in hospital under police guard.

Det Ch Insp Claire Guiver said her thoughts were with the victim's family as they "come to terms with this tragic incident".

Police officers stand behind a cordon on a residential street in Clapham at night, with forensic tents and emergency vehicles visible near a pub as investigators examine the scene of a fatal shooting.

"We continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward," she said.

"If you were in the area at the time of the shooting, witnessed anything suspicious or have any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage that could assist our investigation, we urge you to get in touch."

The Metropolitan Police said detectives were working at pace to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death, and that urgent inquiries remain ongoing.
