A hillwalker has been rescued after falling 100ft (30m) down a gorge in the Coire Gabhail area of Glen Coe.

Police Scotland called in a team from Glencoe Mountain Rescue after reports of the incident on Friday.

A Coastguard Rescue helicopter from Inverness attended the scene, though members of the rescue team used ropes to bring the walker out of the gorge.

The person was eventually able to leave the scene on foot.

Posting on social media, Glencoe Mountain Rescue said: "The casualty tumbled down about 30 metres over steep rocky ground and was stopped right on the edge of a big vertical drop into the river below by a small tree.

"Despite this 30 metre fall, the casualty was lucky to have sustained only minor injuries and was able to walk out with some assistance from the team.

"We wish the casualty a speedy recovery."

Coire Gabhail is a high-level glen running south of Glen Coe, commonly known as the Hidden Valley or Lost Valley of Glencoe.

It runs between the steeply-sided ridges of two of the "Three Sisters" mountains.
