Watch live as King Charles and Queen Camilla join Emmanuel Macron and Andy Burnham to visit the Bayeux Tapestry at the British Museum on Wednesday (2 September).

Their Majesties, the French president, and the British prime minister will walk the length of the 70-metre masterpiece in a public display of warm Anglo-French relations.

They will be joined by France’s first lady Brigitte Macron and Mr Burnham’s wife Marie-France van Heel.

The world-famous Tapestry, the woven record of the Norman conquest, is on loan until September 2027 as part of a special trilateral agreement between the UK, France and the museum.

It is the first time the Tapestry has returned to England since it was made almost 1,000 years ago.

The party will hear from curators about historic events, such as the coronation of Harold Godwinson and the much-disputed depiction of his death by an arrow to the eye at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, shown at key sections of the 11th-century artwork.

The King and Mr Macron will then make speeches celebrating the loan at a reception in the museum, attended by representatives from Britain and France involved in the process and schoolchildren from both countries.
