Spain will be strong favourites to continue their 100 per cent start in the 2026/27 Nations League when they host the Czech Republic tonight.

The World Cup winners have so far carried on their feel-good factor from the summer during this extended international window, first outlasting England in a high-profile five-goal Wembley thriller last weekend to kick off proceedings in Group A3.

Luis de la Fuente’s dominant side followed up that victory with a 4-1 rout of Croatia in Seville on Tuesday, with Lamine Yamal scoring twice and grabbing an assist on a memorable night.

Spain now move quickly on to Oviedo, where they entertain the Czechs at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere on Saturday evening.

It is a daunting task for Santi Denia, who returns to his homeland after succeeding veteran Miroslav Koubek following the Czech Republic’s disappointing group stage exit at the World Cup.

Former Atletico Madrid stalwart Denia is the first foreign boss ever to be appointed to the top job in Prague, having previously coached Spain at youth level for 15 years - working alongside De La Fuente - in addition to a short stint in Qatar.

His reign has begun with successive home defeats, with a narrow 2-1 loss to Slaven Bilic’s Croatia followed by a 2-0 reverse against England in which they battled hard but went down to 10 men after only 25 minutes following Lyon star Pavel Sulc’s high tackle on Elliot Anderson.

Spain vs Czech Republic is available to watch live on Saturday night (October 3) via Amazon Prime Video’s pay-per-view service.

A pass to view the game costs £2.49, with coverage beginning at 7:35pm BST before kick-off in Oviedo at 7:45pm (8:45pm local time).
