A woman and three children have escaped injury after a petrol bomb was thrown at a house in County Down, causing a blaze.

It happened before 20:30 BST on Tuesday evening on Struell Avenue in Downpatrick.

A 19-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life with intent and remains in custody.

Police Sgt Stewart said the attack and subsequent fire "would have been a frightening experience" for those in the house.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has said that an investigation is underway and are appealing for anyone with information or footage to come forward.
