Neighbours have paid tribute to a ‘lovely mother’ who died after plunging from a balcony at a block of flats in south-east London.
Zhane House was found unresponsive on the ground at the foot of her Lewisham apartment block last month.
Her father Michael revealed that the family were still grieving after the loss of her mother some years earlier. Zhane has a daughter, 6, who is now living with him.
Neighbours and friends from the estate where Zhane, 28, lived on Conington Road, described their shock over her death.
Police were sent to the scene at 6.15am on August 5.
A worker on the estate told : ‘She was a really nice woman and very friendly. She was very good with all the kids on the estate. We really don’t know how this happened, we are in the dark.
‘We found a young man in the flat some days after she died. We asked him what he was doing there and warned him it was crime scene. It was a very strange interaction.’
A neighbour from the block said: ‘We are in total shock. The first thing we knew about it was when the police arrived.She was a lovely woman as far as I could see but did seem to have some personal issues.’
People living in the area said she was a well-known face and had a smile for everyone.
Police arrested a man who has been bailed.
They have said they are treating the death as ‘unexplained’ as inquiries continue.
An inquest into the death will be held at a date yet to be fixed. The results of a post mortem will be revealed at that stage.
A shop worker in the supermarket on the estate said: ‘She was a nice person, she was in the shop a lot. We don’t understand how this can have happened. It’s a bit of a mystery to us. Everyone is talking about it.’
Her father Michael, a builder, has launched a page on GoFundMe to raise money towards funeral costs.
He wrote: ‘Zhane was my daughter who tragically died in August this year from a fatal fall from a fourth floor balcony at her flat in Lewisham SE13, London.
‘She was 28 years old and has a 6-year-old daughter who now lives with me. This incident was so sudden and unexpected that it hit me for six and turned my world upside down and inside out due to the fact that l lost her mother only 9 years earlier in 2017 after 15 years of marriage.’
